City Trunk Line South – Unit 4 / Phase 2
On March 4, 2015, Steve P. Rados, Inc. was awarded the City Trunk Line South – Unit 4/Phase 2 project for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP). The contract value is $14,466,500 and the project is anticipated to take approximately one and a half years to complete. The work will be located in San Fernando Valley. The scope of work entails installation of approximately 1,500 LF of 54” and 60” welded steel pipe, and appurtenances, including two 54” mechanical butterfly valves. Pipe will be installed in two tunnels using the jack and bore method; and pipe will also be installed in a third tunnel using the Sequential Excavation Method (SEM), also known as the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM). Tunnel pits will range in depth up to approximately 55’. Additionally, the abutment walls of the Tujunga Wash Channel will be widened and cored through to allow for the hanging of the welded steel pipeline underneath the bridge that crosses the channel.
