Work Performed: Rados widening of the First Street Bridge over the LA River in the City of Los Angeles by approximately 26 feet to the north. The substructure of the widened portion was spread footings on CISS piles, with some driven H-piles. The bridge is an iconic arch structure spanning the LA River, with pre-cast I-beams and a concrete deck making up the approach spans of the bridge. All of the ornate architectural finishes on the existing south side of the bridge were duplicated on the new north side widening. Significant street improvements were involved in this contract including the realignment of Santa Fe Avenue and Myers Street, storm drains, sanitary sewers, curbs, sidewalks, street lighting, and traffic signals.
