Project Title: Metro Greenline Guideway and Transit Stations – Century to Compton
Contract No.: R23- T01-C 0100
Contract Amount: $ 67,000,000
Job Duration: August 1991 through April 1995
Agency: Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority (LACMTA)
Work Performed: The project consisted of over 13,000 LF of a post-tensioned box girder bridge guideway, five transit stations, and a 2,000 LF of an at grade section constructed with mechanically stabilized earthen retaining walls. The bridge was supported by some 205 bridge columns. The five transit stations included appurtenances such as elevators, escalators, water supply systems, and architectural finishes such as tile, terrazzo, sheet metal cladding, stair railing, and structural metal canopies. The bridge guideway included accommodations for future communications, foundations for the overhead catenary system (OCS), train controls and electrification. On the bridge deck itself, Rados constructed the plinth blocks that would support the rails (by others). Parking lots were constructed at two of the five stations and local streets at the other three stations were modified to accommodate the interface of automobile traffic and the transit customers.
