Work Performed: The project is a complete overhaul of East Bay Municipal Utility District’s aging Summit Reservoir and Shasta / Woods Pumping Plant Facility in Berkeley, CA while maintaining service to the pressure zone. Steve P. Rados, Inc. constructed a temporary 0.4 MG bolted steel tank to serve the existing Shasta / Woods pumping plant. Once completed, the existing 37 MG concrete lined open cut reservoir was demolished and construction of a new 3.5 MG post-tensioned, pre-stressed concrete tank and new pumping plant with six vertical turbine pumps and associated process piping began. Furthermore, the existing inlet-outlet pipeline and three distribution mains are to be replaced. Associated civil site work consists of grading and landscaping the old reservoir basin, site drainage improvements, new perimeter security fencing, and construction of three service roads across the site.
